Successful Yet Starting Up With Their Passion : Meet B-town’s Sensational New Singers

They are established, they are successful, they are the grit and the glamour that defines Bollywood, they have the world at their feet — but these pretty divas aren’t hesitant to start up all over again. Adding another dimension to their personalities, taking up a new role, and simultaneously juggling through their hectic schedules, these Bollywood Babes are all set to face new challenges not as actors but now as singers. Yes, this time around they may have it easy, given the fact that they are already a part of the industry but what matters is that they are taking time out to live another dream, pursue another passion, and start up on a new journey.
“I am shy about my singing,” says the Barfi actress who recently lent her voice for the title track of her last release Dil Dhadakne Do and has three international singles to her credit - ‘In My City’ (featuring Will.i.am), Exotic (featuring Pitbull) and ‘I Can Make You Love Me’.  However, her coyness is certainly not stopping her from leaving her imprints as an upcoming singer across the globe. The actress who shall soon be seen in Bajirao Mastani has always been passionate about singing but rarely delved into it until now. At the beginning of her career, PeeCee declined many offers to sing, as she wanted to focus on her acting career. Now that the National Award Winning actress has established a strong footing in Bollywood, she is steadily making an impression as a singer too. While there is encouragement from everyone, it is certainly not easy to handle two equally hectic careers, plus dealing with naysayers. "I think people know me as an actor, it's very difficult for them to accept the fact that I can sing. I get a lot of critique for that, 'why are you trying to sing, why are you singing?' So I think that is a challenge for me, I wish people could just see it as trying my hand at something new, everybody tries that. People start to cook, people start to play a sport, so I started to sing,” says an optimistic Priyanka Chopra. And we can’t help but salute her start up spirit.
Alia Bhatt
Forget about impressing the masses this petite actress has left an impression on none other than the musicindustry’s legend A. R. Rahman, who is so amazed by the Highway actress innate talent to sing that he has invited her to his music school to undergo professional training. Alia Bhatt has left her mark as a fine actress ever since her debut – Student Of The Year, but now she is also making inroads into singing. She debuted as a playback singer with the soulful song ‘Sooha Sa’ in her film Highway. Then she mesmerized everyone with her rendition of ‘Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki’ from her film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and now she wants to take this profession as seriously as her acting.  "Acting is always easier than singing. I always knew that I would act, but never knew that I would be able to sing. I was a bathroom singer to be honest, but now I enjoy singing and want to give that aspect of me time too," says the 2 States actress who recently sang the National Anthem at the Pro Kabadi League 2015 final.
She is another pretty face, who could floor you with not just her acting abilities but also with her soulful voice. She always knew she wanted to be an actor, as a child that was her only dream. But hiding somewhere deep down was also a dream to become a singer. So once, she started living her one dream, Shraddha did not think twice to start up on her other passion – Singing. The Aashiqui 2 girl grabbed the opportunity to lend her voice for the song ‘Galliyan’ from her film Ek Villain. She even won a trophy for the Best Celebrity Singer of the year at the Global Indian Music Academy Awards for this particular rendition. She then sang ‘Do Jahaan’ in Haider and followed it up with 'Bezubaan Phir Se' from ABCD 2. While acting still remains her first love, the young singing sensation is now all set to take her singing passion to another level. The actress, who shall be seen playing a singer again in reel life in the sequel of the 2008 film Rock On, is current doing voice modulation classes to fine-tune her voice “I just enjoy singing and I am hoping that people really take me seriously as a singer too,” says Shraddha Kapoor.
Sonakshi Sinha
Another actress who recently experimented with her vocals as opposed to being in front of the camera is the Dabangg actress Sonakshi Sinha. This Shatrughan Sinha prodigy made an impressive debut as a singer during the IIFA 2015, where she started off with singing the ‘Sawaar loon’ number from her film Lootera, and followed it with the trippy number ‘Har kisi Ko Nahin Milta’ from BOSS to the more popular ‘Saree Ki Fall Sa’ from her film R… Rajkumar. Apparently, Sona has also sung one line in the song ‘Let’s Celebrate’ in her film Tevar with the internationally popular Punjabi singer Imran Khan. We hear, she shall soon be singing a full song for her next and is also undergoing training for her vocals. Sonakshi is also on the judging panel in one of India’s well-known singing reality shows for Kids – Indian Idol Junior 2015.
Must say these youngsters are nothing but inspiring with their go-getting spirits and pursing their passion with all their might. Cheers to their new dreams, new passions and new start ups.
